I’m using this to connect a 2016 MacBook Pro to a CalDigit Thunderbolt 3 dock, and it works for that.Until I saw this cable, I’d never heard of Thunderbolt 4, so I looked it up. There is a good article at [pcmag dot com] and informative pages at [intel dot com]; google it yourself, since I can’t include links in an Amazon review. Based on specs provided in the listing (can connect a single 8K@60Hz or dual 4K@60Hz monitors), this appears to be a true Thunderbolt 4 cable. However, it doesn’t have the official Intel-licensed Thunderbolt 4 symbol (lightning-strike with a 4). The main difference between 3 and 4 is bandwidth, not faster data transmission. This probably won’t matter to most of us, since Thunderbolt 4 computers aren’t yet widely available. There are a few new Windows laptops with it; Apple’s new M1 offerings have USB4 but Thunderbolt 3. Thunderbolt 4 cables are compatible with Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C, so no reason not to get one even if you don’t have any USB4/Thunderbolt 4 gear. It isn’t any more expensive than a Thunderbolt 3 cable.
